The Secret to Blogging Success Revealed

The Secret to Blogging Success Revealed

Years ago I bought my first PC. I remember bringing it home and falling in love with it. It was a DOS 286 with a dialup modem. The internet had not blossomed into the Web we see today, but I loved learning all I could on the PC and on the Internet.girl_wild_flowers1200

A friend of mine remembers how before I got that PC my family and I would go to bed at 9pm. I was an early to bed, early to rise type of guy. After getting that first PC, she recalls me staying up till midnight on a regular basis. I loved learning all I could about it.

That first PC and technology in general became my passion! I eventually wound up going back to college and getting an IT degree; not that it’s helped me that much in what I do today. My degree was even with a focus in Internet Marketing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for college degrees. Having 2 of them have helped me get jobs over the years. But most college courses just don’t teach you a lot about what you need to know to become a success at Internet marketing. Most college professors don’t run Internet business. Most college textbooks are not written by people who have successfully built an Internet marketing business. But back to the subject, technology became my passion!

What’s your passion? What really turns you on?

The Secret to Being a Successful Blogger – Deciding your Niche

So you want to be a blogger, but don’t know what to blog about. You know you should choose a niche, but don’t know what niche to choose. What’s that got to do with the Secret to blogging success? What’s it got to do with knowing what you are passionate about? Everything… to both questions.

The secret to being a successful blogger is all about knowing your passion. We have all probably heard quotes about doing what you love and loving what you do. That is the Key to being a successful blogger: it is finding your passion and blogging about that passion.

Anthony Robbins said “Passion is the genesis of genius.” He also said “It not knowing what to do, it’s doing what you know.” To be truly successful at something you must have a passion for it. The key to being successful at blogging is “doing what you know.” That is; Blogging about what you know and what you are passionate about. When you blog about what you are passionate about and what you know about, then it flows naturally from you onto the pages of your blog.

“If you really want to fly, harness your power to your passion. Honor your calling. Everybody has one. Trust your heart, and success will come to you.” ~ Oprah Winfrey – See more here.

Find your Passion and Share It.

Work doesn’t have to be boring and tedious. Work can be fun if you have passion for what you do. Find what you love to do and make it into the business you want to build. Share what you know and what you are passionate about.

And remember, there are many ways to share your passion. You can write, as in blog posts or articles. But if writing doesn’t interest you as much, build a video blog instead. You can utilize video on sites like Youtube, which has become a great means of sharing your passion and building your dreams. Audio can also be a great means of blogging by building a podcast blog. Even photos and images can be a great means of growing your business and building your blog. This can be used in combination with sites like Pinterest and Instagram.

So, don’t limit yourself. Find your passion and find the means to share it that fits you. And remember, even if none of these means seem to fit, just do it anyway. You’ll get better at it as you go along.

How Do You Find Your Passion?

So how do you find your passion and that thing that will lead you on to success? You may already know what your passion is and that’s awesome! But if not, you can start by asking some simple questions.

You can start by asking a few questions such as:

What are you passionate about? (Obvious)

What keeps you up at night?

What makes you excited to get up in the morning?

What do you love to read about or learn about by video, audio, etc?

What do you spend much of your time thinking about or involved in?

These questions should lead you to better understand what your passion actually is. Once you determine what you are passionate about, brainstorm about how you can utilize or create a niche related to your passion.

For example: A homeschool mom might start a blog on educational resources for homeschool children. If your passion is exercise and health, you might start a blog on exercise programs or equipment. If you passion is old trucks (one of my interests) you might start a blog on old trucks and market parts or restoration supplies.

Get the idea? When you focus your blog on something you already have an interest in and passion for, it’s much easier to produce content about that passion. Then build a niche around that passion, providing helpful products and services related to that passion.

By following your passion first, you will do what you love and build a profitable business around that love and passion.

Stop chasing the money and start chasing the passion – Tony Hsieh

“Stop chasing the money and start chasing the passion.” Tony Hsieh

How many adds and emails do you see offering you an “fast and easy,” done for you,” way to make money. They often come at us seemingly non-stop. So many people are looking for ways to make money fast and easy. So many people are marketing to that group of people.

But are there really “fast and easy” ways to make money? Not many. And the chances of us finding them are slim. No, to make money online or otherwise is not normally fast and easy. And for us to make money online or otherwise, we must learn to do what is not normal. We must become and be unusual in order to make the unusual money we dream of.

Now, by discussing making money, I am in no way implying making money is the only goal or dream you should have. The world runs on money so we need some of it. Thus, I believe it is a worthy goal to desire money, in balance, of course.

So back to Tony Hsieh’s quote: “Stop chasing the money and start chasing the passion.” What does that mean? Chase Passion? I believe this is telling us that instead of chasing money, we should work on our own passion and personal growth, then the money will automatically come. We must dream big and set out to change whatever needs changed in our lives to achieve those dreams. The things that we need to change are more to do with changing ourselves more than changing outside things.

Jim Rohn discusses the importance of personal development in many of his books, and programs. He explains how it’s more important to work on one’s self, rather than on one’s job or environment. By developing yourself into a better person, your situation becomes better. In one discussion he talks about how becoming a millionaire is not as important as becoming the person you become in the process of becoming a millionaire. If you take the money away from a true millionaire, it doesn’t matter so much, because they will find a way to make the money back. They are a millionaire as a person and will attract the money back to them because of the person they’ve become by becoming a millionaire in the first place.

Tony Hsieh says that one needs to chase the passion. I believe this means we need to grow in passion in order to change ourselves and become the person who will attract the success we’re seeking, whether it’s financial success or otherwise. We have to develop passion for our goals and work to reach them by changing ourselves. In the process of growing in passion, you become a different person; a person who is successful and is achieving your goals.

So let’s follow Tony Hsieh’s advice: “Stop chasing the money and start chasing the passion.”

Here’s to your success!
