Adding a Social Media Sidebar

How to Add a Sliding Social Media Sidebar to Your WordPress Blogg.

In Internet Marketing using Social Media, it is important that people who visit your site share your site with others. With a blog page, it’s important that people “like” your post in Facebook, or “tweet” your post to Twitter. A floating sidebar on your post is a great way to encourage visitors to share your posts.

Have you seen the sliding sidebars on other blogs with the social media buttons and wondered how they put them there? You know, the ones that stay on your screen when you scroll down so you can tweet the page, or like it on Facebook, etc.

Have you wondered how to put those sliding sidebars on you blog page and thought it might be pretty complicated? Well, it’s not very complicated. It doesn’t take a lot of technical skills to add one to your own blog site.

Below are some simple directions to adding your own sliding sidebar to your wordpress blog page. I’ve added some screenshots to make it more understandable. If you still need assistance, be sure to check out the instructions given in sites such as WordPress itself.

Here are the directions to adding the Sliding Sidebar to your Blog. This is assuming you already know your way around WordPress and how to add plugins.

1. Search for the plugin for a sliding sidebar.

First you have to go to the Plugins section of WordPress and search for a sidebar plugin. I use the Digg Digg plugin by Buffer. There are others available and it’s your choice to research and choose another one. For this example I’m using Digg Digg.

Digg Digg Actiation

Go to the “Plugins” area of WordPress; Choose “Add New.” In the search box, type “Digg Digg” or whatever key words relate to the sidebar plugin you’ll use. Hit “Enter.”

You should then have a list of plugins that match your search. Click “Activate” to activate your plugin. In this instance, activate Digg Digg.

2.Configure Your Sidebar

Once activated, you should probably refresh your browser (hit “F5” on the top row of keys). You should now have a new menu item on the left menu of WordPress called “Digg Digg.” How appropriate!

This will give you sub-menus to use to configure the Sidebar. You have options to make it stay above or below the post, instead of on the side, but assuming you want it on the side, click “Floating Display” and click the check box to “Enable Floating Display.”

You will then scroll down on the same page to check which buttons you want enabled on your bar; for example Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. You also have options of how you want the bar to display, such as size of buttons, but I’ll let you experiment with that yourself to find what you feel will work best for you and your site. Keep in mind that depending on your host, and internet speeds, etc. your changes may not be noticed immediately.

3. Enjoy more shares from visiters.

So, this is how you add the Social Media Sidebar to your Blog. Now your visitors will be able to easily share your great posts with their followers on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, etc.

Here’s to your Social Marketing Success.

Winning the Gold – 2012 Olympics and in Business.

What’s Winning the Gold in the 2012 Olympics got to do with Your Business? A lot!

Have you been watching the Olympics and seeing those competitors give it their all in an effort to win a little gold medal? They have spent years of their lives preparing for the day that they would stand on the podium and have a gold medal put around their neck.

How does winning the Gold in the Olympics relate to you and your online business? It relates in many ways. Winning the Gold Medal in the 2012 Olympics takes years of hard work. Those who compete in the Olympics are the best of the best because they have put forth the effort to be the best.

They have spent hours during their days and weeks and months when they would have rather been taking it easy. When some of their friends were home watching TV or sitting around with other friends drinking beer, they were busy working out. They were out running for miles in the rain. They were swimming lap after lap in the pool.

You have to be willing to put in the time!

These Gold Medal Winners in the Olympics put in the time working out and practicing their sport when they didn’t feel like working out or practicing. They put in the time when they wanted to be doing something else more fun or more relaxing.

You have to be willing to put in the time as well on your business when your friends are wasting their time away watching TV or just goofing off. You have to put in the time writing blogs or working on what ever method of marketing you will use. You have to put in the time when you don’t feel like putting in the time. You have to do the work when you would rather relax!

Visualize Winning!

In order to Win, athletes must visualize themselves Winning! They must constantly keep that vision in their mind as they push themselves on to greater accomplishments. You must do the same.

See Yourself You Are a Winner.

In order to Win, that is Succeed, you must start with Visions of Winning. You must visualize yourself winning. In Business, you need to see yourself succeeding and achieving your dreams. See yourself being financially free and able to give to others from your abundance.

Dream Big and see yourself in possession of those dreams. Be fired up for the goals you’ve set for yourself and keep the vision of those dreams strong in your mind. Visualize yourself being the successful business person. Visualize yourself being the business leader you want to be.

Tell Yourself You Are a Winner.

Next you need to move on from just having winning thoughts and visions to telling yourself you are winning. You must put your winning visions into words to yourself. Tell yourself everyday that you can achieve your dreams. Tell yourself that all the efforts are worth it in the long run. Tell yourself that you efforts will make you a winner and each day will bring you one day closer to your business success.

Each time you tell yourself that you are making progress and that the effort is worth it, you build self confidence and strength to carry on and achieve the gold medal of business success that you are reaching for.

Take the Actions of a Winner!

The dreams of winning and the talking about winning are of little use if you don’t put it all into Actions. You must take action on what you have learned and put forth the effort every day to achieve your goals. Just setting your goals and then telling yourself that you are going to win a gold medal in the Olympics will not even get you to the Olympics, much less win you gold.

You must take action if you are to achieve success, whether its a gold Olympic medal, or financial freedom. You must take action every day to do the things that you know will bring you closer to success. You must put in the time doing the actions that draw traffic to your sites, or build your business reputation. It takes consistent action!

Again, knowing how to achieve success; thinking thoughts of success; speaking words of success; none of these will bring success without ACTION! You must have Consistent, Appropriate Action!

Those who are achieving Gold Medals in the 2012 Olympics have applied these simple strategies to achieve the success they are achieving. You can use these same simple strategies to achieve tremendous business success!

Here’s to your Business Success!
