“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” Arthur Ashe
Starting an online business can seem to be a daunting task for some. How do you start? What do you do first? Who do you trust?
Sometimes the idea of being successful at online marketing can seem unachievable. It can seem like just too much to do for your circumstances. You may feel you just don’t have the time or the skills needed to succeed.
Let me assure you it is achievable. Anything you believe you can do, you can do. It will take time. It will take effort. But it is achievable.
I believe Arthur Ashe gave the formula for success in his quote: “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” By following this simple formula you can make progress towards the success you dream of.
Start where you are.
No matter where you find yourself in life you can start where you are. There are plenty of stories of even homeless and forsaken individuals who started where they were and used what resources they had available to build their dream.
You may not have the skills needed to write a blog, or produce videos, or whatever you need to do to build an online business. But you can learn those skills. You can find the help to teach those skills. You can find the motivation to continue on.
If you’re starting out with little skills in these areas, it will take extra work, but it will be worth it in the long run. One day you will be the one helping others learn the skills you don’t have today.
You may not have the financial means to spend much right now. Fine. Utilize the free sources available to get started towards your dream.
No matter where you are: Start! Start where you are.
Use what you have.
Where ever you find yourself today; start. Start where you are and use what you have available to you. There are many free resources available to assist you in learning and building your online success.
Use what skills and talents you have. With online marketing, it’s often easier to market in a niche that you already have an interest in or have skills in.
For example if you will be starting a blog, it’s often easier to write about a niche you already have an interest in. It makes your online business more fun. You may already have ready knowledge you can write about on a subject, or know where to easily find information. This would show you as the expert on that subject which would make others more ready to trust you and follow your recommendations.
The key is to use what you already have. You probably have the resources needed to get started, or access to those resources. Again, you can even start with free resources to help you get started towards success. Check out my Resources tab at the top of the page.
Do what you can.
The last point is about actually doing. Do what you can. Take action where you are, with what you have available. You must take action in order to move forward. If you never take action, you will remain where you are, or worse yet, regress.
Jim Rohn put it this way; “Make measurable progress in reasonable time.” We must take action and make progress. If your situation dictates that you progress slowly for now, then find. Progress slowly… But Progress! Move forward! Take action! Do what you can.
You must be a person of discipline and action and do what you can where you are with what you have. Make continual progress towards your goal of success.
So follow the advice of Arthur Ashe: “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
