How to Get Your First 50,000 Twitter Followers
I started to name this post, “How I Got My First 50,000 Twitter Followers,” but I feel it’s not about me, but about helping you increase your following on Twitter. It’s about helping you get your first 50,000 Twitter Followers and continue to grow your following far beyond that.
I wrote a post some time back entitled, “Increasing Your Twitter Followers with Tweepi.” which told how to use Tweepi to increase your following (obviously). I followed the methods laid out in it and over the months have increased my following to just at 59,000 at the time of writing this. This post is an update to that post since Twitter has updated it’s policies and Tweepi has thus updated it’s tools to comply with those changes.
There are many means of growing your business online, as you probably know. There is using blogging, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. Twitter is just one tool you can have in your internet marketing toolbag, but it is a useful tool. With Twitter you can fairly quickly build a following of people who have asked to hear what you say and will allow you to send them information.
With Twitter you can send out links back to your blog, or Facebook page, or other marketing pages. As with any marketing tool today, you should focus on providing useful information, not just blast your followers with ads and promotions. You should be providing great information and advise that people can use and that keeps people coming back for more. Let them find what you have for sell, don’t push it on them.
Enough of that: Now How do You Get Your First 50,000 Twitter Followers?
Using Tweepi’s online tools you can quickly find and follow people within the same niche or interest you are working with. That’s one of the great uses of Tweepi.com. With Tweepi.com, you can find leaders in your area of interest and then quickly follow the people who are following them. This gives you a good list of people who probably have an interest in what you are offering.
Tweepi has several other features that can be very useful for you in managing your Twitter account. Let’s go through a few of it’s features and how you can use it to Get Your First 50,000 Twitter Followers. Let’s use Screen Shots to make it easier to understand.
Follow those who are Following You.
The first screen shot shows the main dashboard of your Tweepi.com account once you set it up. As you see, the second option is to Reciprocate. That is, to follow back those who are currently following you. You may already have it automated with another tool, such as SocialOomph, but sometimes some fall through cracks and you may want to quickly follow back any on this list.
Use “Flush” to Unfollow those who are not Following You.
Another great tool in Tweepi.com is the Flush tool that allows you to Un-follow those whom you have followed, but are not following you back. The first option on the above picture shows the Flush Tool which is used for this. Here is a screen shot showing that I am following 219 people who have not followed me back. You can quickly unfollow by clicking the “Unfollow” button. Tweepi makes it easy to do by automatically moving the next line up to be under your mouse. You don’t even have to move your mouse. Just keep clicking and the page moves up with you. Once at the bottom click next to go to the next page and click away to the bottom again. Fast and simple.
Twitter limits how many people you can Follow above the number who are following you. They limit the ratio of followers to followed. You can typically only follow around 1000 more people that are following you (after you have reached a following of about 2000). By un-following those who aren’t following you back, you have more options to find and follow others. That’s the next step.
Follow the Followers of Leaders in Your Niche.
For example in marketing, you might search the followers of Kim Garst using his id of @kimgarst. Once there, you simply click the “Follow” button of those who are following Kim. Tweepi.com automatically tells you if you are already following someone (“Mutual”), and will tell you if you recently un-followed them.
If you want, you can sort the page. I’ve gotten to where I sort the screen by the last tweet, so I have the latest tweet on top. There are some who have not tweeted in months or ever, so they may not be looking at Twitter much. They probably will not re-tweet your information and probably won’t follow you back. That’s just my approach. You can choose your technique.
I might add, when you “borrow” followers of other leaders, give back by helping promote them a little. Re-tweet some of their tweets. Go to their blogs and share their content. Always find ways to give back to the community and you’ll be blessed.
So, this is a quick overview of Tweepi.com. I hope it is helpful for you or gives you some ideas you might use in your business. There are, of course other Twitter tools which you could use instead, or in conjunction with Tweepi.com.
Here’s to your Tweeting Success!
