9 Ridiculous Excuses for NOT having a Business Blog.

1. I don’t have time to blog

We’ve all probably said this about something in our lives. We just don’t have time to …. But is that true? We all have 24 hours a day and it’s all a matter of what we choose to do with our time.

We can start out spending just a few hours a week building our blog. Most of us can find a few hours a week, just by cutting out a little bit of TV watching, right?

So enough with the excuse of not having time. We can find the time if we want. Find the time and start/invigorate your business with a blog.

2. I am not good at writing

Ok, I understand; writing isn’t natural for some. But if you are working in a certain area or you have an interest in an area, you can talk about that area, right? You can talk with customers and prospects about the area you know about and are interested in.

Writing is just taking what you’d speak out loud and putting it down in print. If you can talk about a subject, you can write about it. Any skill can be learned and improved on.

3. My business is not suited for blogging

Some think that their business would not fit well with blogging. With the continual increase of web traffic, almost any business would benefit from blogging. Another type of internet method might be better suited but blogging would be a benefit and complement to almost any business, whether online or off-line.

Think of any business you know of and chances are there is an online presence of some sort. If there isn’t, there probably should be.

Your business is probably very well suited for blogging.

4. Blogging is too expensive

Blogging is NOT expensive. What does it cost? $10-$15 a year for the domain name. Maybe $10 a month for the hosting. That’s about it! About $10 a month. That’s so cheap to potentially bring many leads to your business each month.

5. I don’t have anything to write about

Do you think you don’t have anything to write about? If you are already in a business, or are interested in a particular area to build a business, you already know a lot about that business area. Even if you don’t know much about it, you can learn about it as you go.

Anything you already know or anything that you learn about along the way is something you can write about on a blog.

The list of things to write about in any niche is an endless. Just do a search in your favorite search engine on the subject of your business and you find endless ideas. Don’t let yourself be fooled into thinking you don’t have anything to write about. You do!

6. My business is too small and/or local

Think your business is too small to have a blog? Or because it’s a local business a blog won’t help? No! Even a small business can benefit from a blog. And besides that can be the means to make it a large business.

And YES, a local business can benefit from a blog. More and more people use the Internet to search for local items when shopping or eating out, etc. Your business needs to be in those search results. Having a blog is one of the best ways to get your business in the search results when people are looking for local items.

7. Blogging doesn’t work

Some people think that Blogging doesn’t work. Where would they get that idea? Blogging is one of the best means of getting better search engine results on a given topic. The more you blog, the more information you have available for the search engines to find and direct back to your website. Blogging is one of the best means of increasing SEO (search engine optimization).

8. I don’t know how to blog or use the Internet

Are you technically challenged? Don’t let that worry you! Don’t know how to build a website or work with the Internet? Don’t let that deter you from building your blog.

Creating and growing a blog is not that complicated. And there are plenty of tutorials both written and videos, which walk you through the process, step by step. Also, if needed you could hire out the setting up of the blog to get you going.

Once the blog is set up, it’s just a matter of writing out your blog in a word-processor: then copying and pasting the blog post over into wordpress. Don’t worry if you don’t understand these terms. They will make sense quickly as you begin working on your blog.

You don’t have to start out knowing anything about the Internet, blogging or business. Just get started!
